After recognizing the need to support the whole family when a child is seriously ill or injured, the first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia, PA, USA, in 1974. That was the beginning of their role as a unique charity dedicated to caring for families with children who are ill or injured. Their programs and services address the essential needs of families around the world - all along their child’s healthcare journey - so they can focus on the health and well-being of their child. Each year, RMHC provides at least 2.7 million overnight stays, helping families save $736 million in lodging and meal expenses in 2023 alone. With your generosity, RMHC can continue to help their Chapters expand their reach and ensure even more families are supported throughout the world.
Each day, thousands of people – people just like you – provide compassionate care to those in need. The Red Cross' network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world.
Incredible people roll up our sleeves and donate time, money and blood. They learn or teach life-saving skills so our communities can be better prepared when the need arises. They do this every day because the Red Cross is needed - every day.
Danny Thomas opened the doors to St. Jude in 1962 with the dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life." Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and we won't stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude is dedicated to treating kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. In addition to patient treatment, St. Jude is focused on cutting-edge research to help us better understand pediatric cancer and how to treat it. Each day, we are working toward a cure, so every child who comes to us can be given their best chance to grow up.
Why support St. Jude?
- Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.
- When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80% within the U.S., and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- Every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment. When you support St. Jude, you help give kids with cancer around the world that chance.
Every year, the global energy system produces almost 40 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions — pushing our planet toward irreversible climate tipping points. Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is focusing on the biggest levers to reduce carbon and other climate-warming emissions — technology and policy advocacy.
The planet is in serious danger and global climate policy is missing the mark. Most climate action focuses on three solution pathways: pricing carbon as a commodity, improving energy efficiency, and accelerating wind and solar electricity deployment. While these actions are useful, they address perhaps one-third of the climate change crisis.
The Clear Air Task Force's mission is to push the technology and policy changes needed to achieve a zero-emissions, high-energy planet at an affordable cost.
The Greater Waterville Interfaith Council of Churches founded the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter (MMHS) and opened for services on November 26, 1990. In 2019 they changed their name to Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter & Services to reflect all the progressive work of the shelter. The mission of the organization is to provide safe shelter, food, support services, and an avenue to self-sufficiency for homeless adults in our community. Ending homelessness one person, one child, one family at a time.
Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut, our intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation. By empowering youth to “know the signs” and uniting all people who value the protection of children, we can take meaningful actions in schools, homes, and communities to prevent gun violence and stop the tragic loss of life.
Animal Welfare Society exists to serve as the safety net for lost and homeless pets and to provide access to affordable services and resources necessary for long term well-being, so pets and their families stay together and thrive.
